Shatsky’s Pakhtakor failed to beat former club Rebrov in the Asian Champions League

On December 3, in the match of the 6th round of the Asian Champions League, Uzbekistan “Pakhtakor” could not beat “Al-Ain” from the United Arab Emirates.

The home team opened the scoring very quickly in the match. Otabek Zhurakuziev scored in the 6th minute. But that was the end of Pakhtakor.

The second half started with a goal from the guests: Sufyan Rahimi scored for Al Ain. In the 52nd minute, the team from the UAE remained in the minority due to the expulsion of Yahya Nader for rough play.

“Pakhtakor” could not take advantage of the numerical advantage. What’s more, Maksym Shatskyi’s wards could miss out.

Uzbekistan’s “Pakhtakor” is coached by the legendary ex-player of “Dynamo” Kyiv, Maksym Shatskykh, who played 214 matches and scored 97 goals in 10 seasons as part of the Ukrainian club.

Al-Ain also has a Ukrainian trace in its history. From 2021 to 2023, this club was headed by Serhiy Rebrov, the current head coach of the Ukrainian national team. In addition, Ukrainian midfielder Andriy Yarmolenko played for the Emirati club for one season.
