In an interview with Fox News, he emphasized that Serbia’s advantage is that it is in friendly relations with all parties to the conflict.
“Serbia is also among the countries that are offering their services, given our experience, given the fact that we are friends with all parties involved to try, if necessary or if there is an interest, to hold any negotiations… on how to put an end to this terrible tragedy that has caused so many victims and destruction,” Djuric said.
He emphasized that the war in Ukraine must be stopped immediately.
“Serbia supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states in accordance with their borders established by the UN,” he added.
As noted by Fox News, some analysts also believe that Serbia could be a possible location for the next round of ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine, given the historical ties between Russia and Serbia based on cultural and religious ties linking the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Serbia and the war in UkraineSerbia has a rather ambivalent policy regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Thus, throughout the entire period of the Russian Federation’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the Serbian government categorically refuses to introduce sanctions against the aggressor, despite pressure from the European Union. Also, Serbia continues to buy Russian weapons.
At the same time, Serbia refuses to recognize Russian annexations of Ukrainian territories, particularly Crimea. Belgrade is also quietly selling weapons to Ukraine.
