German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again stated that, despite all the criticism, he wants to continue the telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports UNN with reference to Tagesschau.

“I spoke with the Russian president and I will speak with him again,” he said after a meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal in Berlin.

However, he will always make it clear that Putin’s task is to “end the war, stop the aggression and withdraw the troops.”

Mikhal doubts that Putin can be persuaded to surrender with the help of phone calls. In his opinion, Russia should be forced to sit down at the negotiating table by providing Ukraine with further and larger-scale support.

In November, Scholz talked to Putin’s phone for the first time in more than two years and was criticized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for this.
