According to the case file, the official was recruited in 2015 in Moscow during a personal meeting with a staff member of the Russian special service. His identity has already been established by the cyber specialists of the Security Service, the report says.
A recruited agent was put on “standby” and “uncanned” after the start of a full-scale war via a messenger message.
The man was instructed to create an agent network. The task of this group was to collect information about the locations of bases and routes of movement of Ukrainian troops and their cargo, as well as to direct missile and drone attacks of the Russian Federation against them.
The resident involved his acquaintances in working for the enemy: a man from Kharkiv, who left the military unit after mobilization, and before that worked for 10 years at Ukrzaliznytsia and was a driver of international trucking. The task of the deserter was to monitor the movement of military echelons of the Armed Forces, and the driver – under the guise of work trips – to leak the coordinates of roadblocks and units of the Defense Forces.
In addition, it was established that the suspect’s brother and mother were involved in the activities of the agent group.

SBU employees documented the crimes of the Russian agency and detained its resident in Kyiv. At the same time, a deserter agent was detained in Kharkiv.
During the searches, mobile phones with evidence of work in the Russian Federation were seized from the suspects. A firearm was also found, which was handed over for examination.
Investigators of the Security Service informed the two detainees and two relatives of the leader of the enemy cell that they are suspected of having committed crimes under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
* h. 2 Art. 28, ch. 2 Art. 111 (treason committed by a group of persons under martial law according to a prior conspiracy);
* ch. 1, 3 Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants)”.
