The SBU found that the current mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov is a citizen of the Russian Federation and has a current foreign passport of the aggressor country. Copies of the relevant documents are available to the Ukrainian special service.
According to the available data, on December 15, 2015, after the aggression against Ukraine, Gennady Trukhanov received a foreign passport of the occupying country, issued for a period of 10 years, which is currently the current document.
Regarding the internal passport of the Russian Federation, in 2017, Trukhanov representatives appealed to the Russian authorized bodies, and the court in the Moscow region canceled the validity of his internal passport. However, additional explanations stated that the cancellation or refusal of a person to such a document “does not seize the license of the citizenship of the Russian Federation, a license of the law on the legal basis”.
Thus, Gennady Trukhanov still remains a citizen of the aggressor country. It also has an identification code, which is displayed in the database of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation.
