Details: According to the investigation, four residents of the Kharkiv region, including a software engineer, a former military man and two unemployed men, were recruited by the Russian special services and acted in the interests of the aggressor state.
The supervisor of the suspects was a fighter of the special forces of the so-called “DNR”, which fights against Ukraine on the eastern front and cooperates with Russian intelligence. He instructed the suspects and gave them instructions via messenger.
The men searched for locations of Ukrainian military deployments on the territory of Kharkiv and the region and transmitted the collected data in the form of map images with appropriate markings.
In June 2024, suspects blew up the car of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of which the Ukrainian defender was seriously injured. They prepared for the operation in advance – they monitored the movement of the victim in order to plant an explosive device under the car at the right time.
The suspects were also planning to commit a number of other terrorist attacks. One of their tasks was to cause an accident on the railway track to prevent the transportation of Ukrainian military equipment to the front line.
One of the suspects (a software engineer – editor) made an improvised explosive device, which he hid in a landing on the territory of the Kharkiv district, about which he reported to the curator in a messenger. Immediately after that, he was detained by law enforcement officers.

The other three suspects were detained at their places of residence. During the searches, law enforcement officers discovered and seized explosives, computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity.
Four citizens were notified of suspicion of treason committed under martial law, and one of them was also charged with carrying, storing and transferring explosive substances and devices without the permission provided by law.
At the request of the prosecution, preventive measures in the form of detention without bail were chosen for all four suspects.
