Details: The department reminded that Saakashvili transferred to “Vivamed” clinic On May 12, 2022, to receive inpatient medical care and since then he has been there under the supervision of doctors.
“Since the state of health of convicted Mikheil Saakashvili is satisfactory and he no longer needs inpatient treatment, he was discharged from the civil sector clinic and returned to correctional institution No. 12, where he will continue to serve his sentence on general grounds,” they added.
In Georgia, Saakashvili was convicted of several cases, including embezzlement of state funds and illegal border crossing, to more than 12 years of imprisonment.
In November, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia initiated a criminal case against Saakashvili and seven other opposition leaders for allegedly calling for the overthrow of the government.
At the same time, the Georgian authorities want declare unconstitutional the ex-president’s party “United National Movement”.
