Casper Ruud (ATP 7) shared his impressions of the victory over Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 3) at the ATP Finals. Ruud noted that he knew about the Spanish opponent’s cold, but tried to focus on his game.
“I noticed that he probably had a cold: he was constantly blowing his nose, kept napkins with him. This is a sign that physically he is not 100% ready. Of course, it’s sad for him, but such things are part of the sport,” Ruud said.
Ruud added that, knowing the state of the opponent, he emphasized long rallies: “When you understand that someone is not at his peak, you want to take advantage of it. I tried to involve him in the play and keep my rhythm.”
