“If I was Putin and just as he was interested in the history of my country, today I would have been overflowing. You (Russia. – Ed.) Queue of cars waiting to be tucked by gasoline,” Secretary General said.
“This powerful oil producer (Russian – ed.) Now has been forced to reduce exports to countries such as Turkey and India, because they can no longer do so because Ukrainians are so effectively attacked by their oil refineries, etc.,” he added.
According to Rutte, that is why it would be in the interests of Russia to “really join the initiative” of US President Donald Trump to put an end to the war against Ukraine.
Earlier this week, Trump at Truth Social wrote that Ukraine can return the territory captured by Russia and compared the Russian Federation with a “paper tiger” (an English expression, which roughly means “spike on clay legs”).
Commenting on this the day before, the Kremlin spokesman Peskov said that “Russia is by no means a tiger, Russia is still more associated with a bear.”
It should be noted that Rutte does not make fun of the Kremlin for the first time. In July, he humorously commented on the prophecy of Sergey Lavrov about the “collapse” of NATO, saying that he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia “since the birth of Jesus Christ.”
