The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov today met with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell during his visit to Kyiv.

This was reported in the MoU.

“I highly appreciate Mr. Borrell’s personal contribution to the diplomatic, economic and military support of Ukraine. As a sign of gratitude for these efforts, which strengthened our defense capabilities, he was awarded the “Cross of Honor,” Rustem Umyerov said.

The European Union has already provided Ukraine with military aid in the amount of 44 billion euros and intends to continue increasing its support.

One of the most effective steps to help our defenders is investing in the Ukrainian defense industry.

Rustem Umyerov told the EU delegation about the possibilities of Ukrainian production of drones, which is currently estimated at $11 billion. Of this, Ukraine can invest about $3 billion on its own, but for the maximum development of our potential, financial support from partners is needed.

“We hope that a significant part of the next tranche of frozen Russian assets will be aimed at strengthening our defense-industrial complex. I am deeply grateful to the European Union for its leadership and support in many areas. I believe that our joint efforts will help overcome all challenges on the way to peace in Ukraine and Europe,” said Rustem Umyerov.
