According to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Europe is facing a long-term threat because Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine “is no longer a regional war.”
This is reported by Spiegel.
The German defense minister said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has “completely switched to a military economy”. According to him, Russia produces as many weapons and ammunition in three months as the EU produces in a year.
Pistorius also recalled that at the end of October, Putin announced about “a serious, uncompromising struggle for a new world order” and already considers himself a winner in the war against Ukraine. He also noted that the hybrid war over disinformation and fake news continues.
“Our security is a fragile asset. Germany should speed up the pace and invest more in its military capabilities,” the minister emphasized.
On November 22, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the ballistic missile strike on the Dnipro indicates a real threat of a global conflict. He also emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine is entering a decisive phase.
“We feel that the unknown is approaching. None of us know the end of this conflict, but we know that it is now taking on very dramatic proportions. The events of the last few tens of hours show that this threat is really serious and real when it comes to global conflict,” he said.
