In particular, the hit was reported from the town of Lyudinovo, Kaluga region. A local oil depot was hit there. The released footage shows a tall pillar of fire and smoke above the facility. The Russian authorities in the region have not yet commented on the scale of the destruction, but local publics claim that the fire was preceded by a series of characteristic sounds of UAV engines and explosions.

The residents of the Krasnodar region also had a restless New Year’s Eve. The Ilya Oil Refinery came under attack. This enterprise has already repeatedly become the target of drones.

The Russian capital also fought off drones. Throughout the night, the mayor of Moscow reported on the work of air defense. The official traditionally announced the downing of the UAV, but the Russian side usually hides or significantly downplays the exact number of drones and the presence of damage on the ground due to falling debris.

Defense forces systematically attack refineries and oil depots on the territory of the Russian Federation. These objects are legitimate targets, as they provide fuel for the Russian occupying forces, and revenues from the export of oil products fill the budget of the aggressor country, financing the war against Ukraine.

Previously, the Ilsky Refinery was already was attackedwhich led to a temporary stoppage of his work.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine will respond to Russian terror with strikes on the “sore points” of the Russian economy and logistics.

For reference:

  • Ilsky Refinery (LLC “KNGK-INPZ”) is one of the key oil refining enterprises of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation. The capacity of the plant allows processing more than 6 million tons of oil per year. The enterprise produces diesel fuel, gasoline and fuel oil, which, due to its proximity to the Black Sea ports, is actively used for logistical support of the occupation group in Ukraine.
  • The oil base in Lyudinovo (JSC Kaluganaftoprodukt) is part of the structure of Rosneft and is a logistics hub that provides units of the Russian Armed Forces that take a direct part in the war against Ukraine.
