What is known about the situation at the front in the Donetsk region
On December 28, DeepState analysts refuted the information of the Institute for the Study of War about the alleged capture of the city of Kurakhove by the Russian army and announced the continuation of fighting in the western and southern outskirts.
On December 30, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Russians continue to carry out ““meat assaults” in Donetsk region, while suffering record losses.
The Khortytsia Regional Security Service noted that the Russian invaders are trying to bypass the city of Pokrovsk and are attacking neighboring settlements.
On January 1, DeepState wrote about the chaotic tactical situation in Novovasylivka near Pokrovsk, where the enemy is present in virtually every corner of the village, as well as the Defense Forces.
On January 3, DeepState announced the advance of the Russians near five settlements and the occupation of three — Dachensky, Novy Trud and Vovkovo in Donetsk region.
According to ISW, the Russian military command is likely to temporarily shift its focus from capturing Pokrovsk to advancing west to the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region.
