Russia produces about 600 Shaheds every month – KNDISE

Russia has increased the production of attack UAVs, which it uses in the war against Ukraine. In particular, the aggressor produces about 600 kamikaze drones of the “Shahed” type every month. Andrii Kulchytskyi, the head of the military research laboratory, told about it, writes UNN.

“We have already seen drones with serial numbers over 5,000. After making calculations, we determine that the monthly production is about 600 units,” Kulchytskyi told DW.

According to him, KNDISE experts note changes in the production of kamikaze drones. In particular, the Russians began to pay less attention to the quality of drones. If earlier they used many parts of foreign production, in particular Japanese bearings, now more and more simplified analogues are used.

“This may indicate a lack of imported components due to sanctions or supply restrictions. For example, drone engines increasingly lack parts compared to the first research samples: there is no starter, flywheel, etc. All elements are simplified for mass use in order to fly,” said Kulchytskyi .

He also recalled that the Russians changed the color of the “shahads” to black, so that it would be more difficult for the air defense forces to detect them at night. In addition, the body of the new kamikaze drones has become stronger.

At the same time, Ukrainian defenders are adapting their countermeasures: mobile groups, air defense systems, helicopter strikes and the development of FPV interceptor drones. According to experts, a strategically important step could be the use of Ukrainian strike drones to attack the “Shahed” factories in Russia and Iran.
