Details: On Sunday, July 20, the first direct passenger flight to the capital of North Korea – Pyongyana went from the Moscow Airport Sheremetyevo. The launch of airline is against the backdrop of closer military cooperation between Russia and Kim Jong -in in the war against Ukraine.

The flight is made by the Boeing 777-200er Russian Airline Nordwind Airlines, capable of carrying up to 440 passengers. According to the Russian State Agency “RIA News”, the flight duration will be about eight hours, and the departure of the first aircraft took place at 19:00 in Moscow time.
Rosaviation has granted permission to perform flights twice a week, but the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has specified that flights will currently be carried out once a month to “form a stable demand”.
Prior to the launch of this route, the only direct airlines between Russia and the DPRK remained flights of the North Korean State Airlines of Air Koryo from Vladivostok, which are executed three times a week.
