The Russian Federation launched a new attack on the DTEK thermal power plant, as a result of which power equipment was damaged. This is already the eighth massive shelling of the company’s thermal power plants since October 2025.

It is reported the press service of the company.

In total, since the beginning of the war, the DTEK thermal power plants have suffered more than 220 attacks, which resulted in serious damage. Similar actions of the enemy are part of the terror strategy aimed at the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which is critically important in the winter period.

On January 13, 2026, due to a missile-drone attack on the energy system, emergency power outages were introduced in the capital and Kyiv region. The situation is complicated by the lack of backup power sources and limited time to restore the destroyed equipment.

Schedules of power outages in Kyiv and the region currently published by operators of distribution systems do not act . Energy workers are working around the clock to restore stable power supply as soon as possible
