Direct Language: “I think it can be done with Transnistria, with a status such as Gagausia – relative autonomy within Moldova. Transnistria may have the same in the framework of the agreed regime. The EU border would be with these two autonomous regions.”

Details: According to Dana, the main thing is that the victory of pro -Russian forces in the parliamentary elections in Moldova managed to avoid the victory.

“At that time, the entry process would be stopped – as it happened to Georgia,” the President of Romania said.

He added that this would also greatly worse the security situation, as Russia would be able to re -enhance the military presence in Transnistria and this contingent would become a greater threat to Moldova, Ukraine and Romania as well.

Prehistory:

  • Moldova President Maya Sandu believes that approaches to Gagausia and Transnistria should be different.
  • Moldova’s Parliament MP from PAS Ina Kosara said in an interview with the EP that the Moldovan authorities have developed a plan for the integration of unrecognized Transnistria, where Russian troops have been in the 1990s.
  • Chisinau consistently opposes the power scenarios of Transnistria reintegration.
  • The Moldovan side also declares for a long time that Moldova’s accession to the European Union may be preceded by Transnistria’s reintegration.
