Who wins the US presidential election: NV follows the tally of the votes of American voters who elected the country’s 47th president on November 5 between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
As of the morning of Wednesday, November 6, polling stations closed across the entire US territory: most by 6:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the last – at 8:00 a.m. Kyiv time in Alaska.
The process of counting votes in the USA is complicated, because there is no body in the country that would announce the election results centrally (The Federal Election Commission does not have such powers and does not tamper with election results). Each state counts votes separately, the general picture is collected by American media and news agencies.
NV follows the US vote count.

He has won two out of seven so far “shaky” states – North Carolina and Georgia.
08:26 Harris won in New Hampshire, where Democrats have been winning for about 20 years
Harris’s victory in this state is confirmed by the AR calculation. For two decades in a row, Democrats have won four electoral votes in this state. New Hampshire has supported Democrats in seven of the last eight presidential elections.
08:20 Trump has currently secured 247 electoral votes, Harris — 214: AR forecast
To win, it is necessary to get 270 votes of the Electoral College.

07:48 Trump won in Georgia – the second out of seven “shaky” states – Bloomberg estimates
Trump won Georgia, second only to North Carolina, out of seven key states in the election, narrowing Harris’ path to victory, Bloomberg reported. The Harris campaign has already said it still hopes to win thanks to the results in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where the results are still to be determined.
In 2020, Trump narrowly lost to Joe Biden in Georgia. So his current victory in this state “shows how he has consolidated his power in the Republican Party,” Bloomberg adds.
07:40 Trump leads in all seven “shaky” states of the USA, but the chances of Harris’s victory in them remain – the BBC estimates
From seven “of shaky” states, Trump, according to the calculations of the Associated Press, won only in North Carolina for sure, having won 16 electoral votes.
In the remaining six states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania – counted from a few percent to more than 90% of the vote, the BBC reports. At the same time, Trump is ahead of Harris everywhere (although she still has an arithmetic opportunity to win in all states).
07:33 Trump won the state of Iowa, which once voted for Democrats
This is reported by the Associated Press. Trump received six electoral votes in the state.

06:45 Republicans can win a majority in the Senate, where they had a minority before the election — AR assessment
According to AR’s forecast, Republicans have already secured 50 seats in the 100-seat Senate, gaining 2 additional seats in the election, while Democrats are likely to lose two seats.
In 2024, along with the presidential election, Americans will elect a new House of Representatives (435 seats, elected for two years) and a third of the Senate — 34 new senators, each of whom is elected for six years. Republicans currently hold a majority in the House of Representatives and Democrats dominate the Senate by a narrow margin, but the 2024 election could change the balance of power in Congress. The speed and effectiveness of the resolutions proposed by the White House depends on whether the president is supported by a majority of congressmen in each chamber.
06:33 The New York Times estimates Trump’s chances of victory at 89%

- New Jersey (14);
- New York (28);
- Rhode Island (4);
- Vermont (3).
What it takes to win
For a final victory, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump need to receive 270 Electoral College votes — that is, the support of at least 50%+1 of the electorate. The collegium consists of 538 people who represent all 50 US states in proportion to the population of each of them. Even a minimal margin of victory for a candidate in a given state means that all of that state’s electoral votes will go to him (this principle “winner takes all” applies everywhere except Maine and Nebraska, where a more proportional approach is in place). California, home to nearly 40 million people, has 54 electoral votes out of 538 this year, the most of any state.
Most of the attention is focused on “shaky” states, which will depend on the outcome of the election: this year it is Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, where the chances of Trump and Harris were estimated as almost equal.
