On January 6, Epiphany will be celebrated in Ukraine. In view of the security situation, weather conditions and the effect of martial law, rescuers urge to refrain from mass gatherings and swimming in open water bodies without proper supervision.

About this reported in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Rescuers also gave advice on where and how to dive without risk:

• Choose only officially designated places where rescuers and medics are on duty.

• The bottom of reservoirs must be examined beforehand.

• Arbitrary pits are deadly.

• Before diving, do a light warm-up.

• Staying in water — no more than 10–15 seconds.

• After bathing, dry yourself immediately, change into dry warm clothes and warm yourself with a hot drink.

Do not leave children unattended near water bodies for even a minute. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. It creates a false sense of warmth, puts a strain on the heart and significantly increases the risk of accidents.

If you fall under the ice:

• Keep calm, don’t panic.

• Spread your arms to stay on the surface.

• Crawl onto the ice with your chest, alternately extending your legs.

• After getting out, do not get up – crawl or roll back to the shore in the same way.
