Russians from the city of Suja, who are currently in Kursk, protested because of the lack of support from the authorities. This was announced on Saturday, January 18 by Roman Alyokhin, former adviser to the governor of the Kursk region.

As Alyokhin said, people have run out of money allocated by the previous administration, and “there are no additional subsidies and support.” He added that approximately 50 people came to the protest.

The official said that people are demanding to speed up the issuance of housing certificates, complaining about the lack of financial assistance and demanding that their plots be left to them.

According to Alyokhin, “people have run out of money, which was initially allocated by the previous administration, there are no additional subsidies and support measures, and there is no understanding when life will become preliminary.”

Later, the new head of the Kursk region Oleksandr Khinstein joined the protesters. He stated that the problems arose because corruption scheme of local officials”. Hinstein told people that he allegedly did not trust “all officials” and promised to bring them to justice.

In November 2024, it was also reported that refugees from Suja went to a spontaneous rally in Kursk. The authorities called their actions illegal and demanded the extradition of the organizers. The video showed several dozen people who gathered on the Red Square of Kursk in the afternoon of November 10.
