More than 40 people participated in the recording of the video message. Villagers spoke about the problems they experienced after the evacuation. According to them, now the village resembles a horror movie, and many are afraid to return there. The authorities stated that it would take five years to restore the village.
“We have been in hell for three months, where should we turn, where can we find salvation. We request you to end this cursed war which has claimed many innocent lives. We want our children to see a peaceful sky, not to listen to the missile danger signal. Understand this situation and listen to the border residents. We don’t tolerate all this by our own will,” the villagers said.
The Ukrainian army entered the territory of Russia’s Kursk region on August 6 – almost two and a half years after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Fighting has continued in the region since then. A federal state of emergency is in effect in the region. According to official data, more than 112,000 people were evacuated from the border regions. About a thousand Russians have gone missing – their relatives are looking for them.
