Head coach of Real Madrid Sergio Scariolo commented on the victory over Zaragoza (99:78) in the match of the 18th round of the ASV League and talked about integration into the team Oleksiy Lenya:

“Zaragoza played well in the first half. They faced us, knew how to move the ball effectively and find good shots. We cannot expect to play every match with maximum aggression and determination for all 40 minutes. When it came time to apply it, we did. It was good that the players who did not start the match in the starting line-up contributed.

Objectively, I believe that I cannot expect anything more or better from the team in such a match. Now we have a very tough week ahead of us and we thought about preserving playing time for Eddie (Tavares), Trey (Lyles) and other players who will play this week. We are in a clear state of emergency because of Theo’s absence (cf. Maledon). In our composition, as in all teams, there are positions that are easier to compensate for injuries and absences, and there are positions that are more difficult to do. Andres is doing his best and I am happy with him.

Lenya’s integration? Very good. He did what we asked. He is becoming more and more integrated into the team. When Eddie doesn’t play and we decide to keep a big lineup on the court, he has to do what he did: finish under the hoop, defend his own, and he did a good job. He’s becoming more integrated and that allows us to rest Eddie in these types of games without risking the result.”

After 18 rounds of the ASV League regular season, Real Madrid is in first place in the standings with 32 points.
