Radio Liberty’s Movie About Bucha Abished

Dmitry Julya Street Documentary Film “Death Street: Radio Svoboda exposes Russian soldiers involved in Bucha” has been on a short list of the British Journalistic Competition of the Association of International Broadcasting (AIB). It became known on September 10.

In the Investigation category, Dmitry Julay’s film competes with six other competitors, including Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and more.

“Getting to a short list is an achievement that can be proud of, as the task of finding the work that was on the short list was not easy,” – noted.

The winners will be announced at the AIB gala concert, which will take place in London on November 14, 2025.

Radio Liberty in the movie “Death Street …” has been investigated in detail by the circumstances of Self -Deferonets Andrei Matviychuk and Vitaliy Karpenko, as well as the killings of four civilians of Bucha: Vladimir Rubayl, Dmitry Konovalov, Valery Kizilov and Igor Gorodetsky. The events occurred on March 4-5, 2022 during the Russian occupation, near Yabhan Street in Bucha, Kyiv region. According to Radio Liberty investigation, some Russian servicemen, who were part of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Division of the Russian Air Force from Pskov, may be involved in the murder of Radio Svoboda.

In 2022, Radio Liberty received AIB distinction in the category “Permanent News Lighting (Television and Video)” for reporting about the Russian war in Ukraine. The jury members drew attention to the work of the network of Radio Liberty correspondents and the TV channel “The Water Time”, created by Radio Liberty with the participation of “Voice of America”.

In 2023, the Final of the AIB competition also included a film-investigation of Schemes, dedicated to the memory of the producer and journalist Radio Svoboda Vera Girich, who died on April 28, 2022 in Kiev as a result of a Russian rocket in the multi-apartment building in which she lived.

“List 31”, investigations of the Projects of Radio Liberty “Schemes” and “Are you?” About the abduction of children with Russian occupied territories, it was included in the finals of the British journalistic competition in 2024.
