Radio Liberty became available in the occupation through the Ceno browser

Ceno is a mobile browser that provides access to blocked resources without a VPN”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

Radio Liberty and the projects of the Ukrainian service Donbas.Realii, Crimea.Realii and News of the Azov region are now available in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine without VPN – through the Ceno browser.

Ceno is a mobile browser based on the Android operating system of the Canadian company eQualitie. With the help of P2P technology (peer-to-peer network), site data is cached, and users can exchange content.

Thanks to this, residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine will be able to access sites blocked by Russia, including Radio Liberty and Krym.Realii, without a VPN.

You can download the Ceno browser from Google PlayMarket or F-droid (for users of devices with the Android operating system). To reduce security risks in the event that the Russian military or representatives of occupation administrations and other bodies controlled by the Russian Federation, Ceno developers advise:

– visit sites in Ceno’s private mode (Personal/Personal Mode). If you access resources in public view, the IP address is registered in the BitTorrent network and can be associated with the sites visited by the user.

– change the Ceno browser icon: Browser menu – Settings – Toolbar settings – Change application icon;

– Ceno does not store any personal data (logins, cookies), but in addition, the user can instantly clear all browser data on the device by clicking on the broom icon in the address bar or via Menu – Settings – delete browsing data.

Previously, in the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia, along with a significant restriction of access to YouTube, some VPN services stopped working in whole or in part, local residents informed Donbas.Realia. It became impossible to open YouTube with many free VPN services in Donetsk and Luhansk, including Lantern, NTHLink and Psiphon.

The Internet in the occupied territories of Ukraine is controlled according to the same principle as in the territory of Russia. In the occupation, access to Ukrainian websites, as well as such messengers as WhatsApp, Viber, Signal, is limited or blocked.

In July 2024, The New York Times allegedly received about 40 pieces of documentary evidence that Russia had created programs to monitor users of Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal messengers at the request of the authorities. They can be used by the FSB and the police.
