Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed General Oleg Salukov Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, freeing him from the post of commander of the Land Forces. This is stated in a decree published on the evening of May 15.

The new head of the RF Land Forces is appointed Colonel-General Andriy Mordvichov.

The Salukov Army General has been the commander of the Land Forces and the Moscow Garrison since 2014. In this position, he, in particular, commanded parades in Moscow on May 9 from 2014 to 2025. On May 21, he is 70 years old and, according to the law, he must leave military service (unless an exception is made for him). It is under the sanctions of Western countries as a result of war in Ukraine.

Former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has been secretary of the Security Council since 2024. He has several deputies.
