The agreement between Minsk and Moscow on security guarantees provides for the deployment of Russian military facilities in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the arrangement can only be canceled in 10 years.
The document was signed by the heads of the two states Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the High State Council in Minsk on December 6, 2024.
Following the signing of the Agreement, a public representative of the former Belpol Belpol employees, Matthew Kuprechyk, stated in Washington at hearings of the US Security and Cooperation Commission in Europe (Helsinki Commission) that the agreement will allow Moscow to deploy new military bases and contingents in the territory of Belarus.
From February 5, it follows that the contract provides not only the so -called “nuclear umbrella” for Belarus and the protection of its constitutional order, but also the placement of Russian military objects and military formations in Belarus. This provides for Article 5 of the contract.
In addition, the agreement contains provisions on the possibility of sending Belarus citizens to the war with Ukraine “to protect the territorial integrity of Russia”, in December Pozirk reported.
On February 5, the head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin stated that the lower house of the Russian Parliament will consider this bill as a priority.
