So he answered the question of Sky News journalist about his attitude to the election prospect in Ukraine. According to Zelensky, given the support against the backdrop of recent events, it will not be easy to “change” it:
“It just has to hold an election. I still need to be allowed. It’s a little more difficult, because we still have to negotiate with me. And I said that I change myself to NATO. If the war ended and Ukraine became a member of NATO – I fulfilled my mission.”
The US is in favor of holding electionsIt is known that after a hard meeting between US President Donald Trump and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, where he failed to conclude a mineral agreement, some American politicians have expressed dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian president.
In particular, national security adviser Mike Voltz stated the need for territorial concessions by Ukraine to reach peace with Russia, and the speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson hinted at the possibility of changing the Ukrainian leadership.
Senator Lindsey Graham also expressed doubts about Zelensky’s ability to “restore the confidence of Americans” after the incident with Trump, assuming the possibility of replacing it.
However, other American politicians, such as Senator Bernie Sanders, strongly opposed such calls, emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine and its current leadership in the fight against Russian aggression.
