A port in the Russian Black Sea city of Tuapse halted oil exports after an attack by Ukrainian drones on November 2, Reuters said, citing two unnamed sources and an analysis of vessel movements.

Reuters also writes about the cessation of oil processing at the Lukoil-controlled refinery in Tuapse due to damage to the port infrastructure. “The refinery, which has repeatedly been targeted by drones, mainly supplies products to China, Malaysia, Singapore and Turkey,” Reuters noted. Its capacity is 240,000 barrels of oil per day. The plant produces kerosene, gas oil and diesel fuel.

Russian authorities previously reported that drone strikes on the port caused a fire and damaged one ship. No large-scale damage to the port infrastructure was reported. According to available data, during the drone attack on November 2, three oil tankers were in the port of Tuapse. As of November 5, all three vessels have been removed from the berths and remain at sea on a raid near the port.

For several months now, Ukraine has been striking Russian refineries, oil depots and pipelines in order to reduce Russia’s revenues from the export of oil and petroleum products and to cause fuel shortages in the Russian domestic market.
