Poroshenko wants to post bail for General Galushkin, who is suspected of improper defense of Kharkiv Oblast

The fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, announced his intention to post bail for the ex-commander of Kharkiv OTU Yuriy Galushkin, who was arrested for 60 days. Later, he reported that another legal entity had already paid the required amount. The name of the mortgagor has not been disclosed at this time.

Details: According to Poroshenko, the arrest of General Galushkin can demotivate front-line commanders, because it does not contribute to strengthening the stability of the troops, and the enemy remains active.

He reported that he was receiving numerous requests from the military to help the general and offered to post bail for him, similar to what was previously done for generals Marchenko and Pavlovsky.

Poroshenko also noted that Galushkin’s lawyers can contact his team to obtain the necessary information and consultations regarding the procedures.

Updated: Later, Poroshenko reported that the lawyers of General Yury Galushkin informed that the required amount for the bail had already been paid by another legal entity.

“We feel injustice like no one else in the world. So, the truth and Ukraine will win (that’s why we are removing the previous post),” he added.

Galushkin’s lawyer, Mykhailo Velichko, told Suspilno in a comment that a bail of five million hryvnias was made for General Yury Galushkin, who is suspected of improper defense of Kharkiv region. The name of the person who posted the bond is not being released at this time.

What preceded:

• On January 21, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv on January 21 chose a preventive measure against the former commander of the “Kharkiv” operational-tactical department, Brigadier General Yury Galushkin, and the former commander of the 415th separate rifle battalion of the 23rd separate mechanized brigade Ilya Lapin.
• On January 20, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine detained the former commanders: two generals and a colonel, who are suspected of negligence, due to which the enemy was able to capture part of the territory of Kharkiv region in May 2024.
• As informed by UP sources, it is about Brigadier General Yury Galushkin, Lieutenant General Artur Horbenka and Colonel Ilya Lapin.
• As noted in the SBI report, the investigation established that Brigadier General (Galushkin – ed.) defined defense positions for the 125th TrO brigade that did not correspond to its combat capabilities, and besides, he had other units that could strengthen these positions.
• The former commander of the 415th battalion of the 23rd OMBr (Colonel Lapin – ed.) in his turn did not organize a defensive battle in the settlements of Strelech, Krasne, Liptsi and Slobozhanske.
• As noted in the SDF, during the repulse of the enemy’s attack, the officer did not report to the senior commander about the results of the defensive battle, did not take measures to stop the spontaneous departure of 12 soldiers of the battalion, and gave a single combat order in the absence of an order from the senior commander. The former combatant also ignored and did not comply with the brigade commander’s order to restore lost positions.
