Just over a fifth of respondents (21%) believe that Trump is neither a help nor a hindrance to peace efforts, and 11% are undecided.
The vast majority of British voters (75%) also said that it is important for Great Britain to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine, while only 8% held the opposite opinion.
“One of the few constant trends in public opinion since the Russian invasion of Ukraine is the continued support of the British people for Ukraine and the belief that the future of Ukraine is important not only for the country itself, but also for modern Great Britain,” said the executive director of More in Common, Luke Trail.
The More in Common think tank polled 2,062 British adults between November 22 and 24.
In recent days, the US has stepped up efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, offering a set of 28-point “peace proposals”.
Prehistory:
- At the weekend talks in Geneva, the USA and Ukraine adjusted the initial proposal of Trump’s team and developed a new 19-point document; the most politically sensitive issues were left to the discretion of the presidents of both countries.
- Negotiations between the American and Russian parties in Abu Dhabi are expected to continue on Tuesday.
