Police reported searches in the case of fundraising for Nazarii Gusakov

The National Police of Ukraine reports that it is conducting investigative actions in the case of possible fraud during the collection of funds for the Lviv resident Nazarii Gusakov, who lives with a rare genetic disease – spinal muscle atrophy (SMA).

According to reports, searches are held in Kiev and Lviv – at the places of residence of Gusakov, as well as his relatives, friends and acquaintances whose cards he used to collect Donates for treatment.

The police said that investigative actions were underway in Kyiv in the framework of pre -trial investigation of criminal proceedings, which started under articles on “fraud” and “legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime.”

“The actions of the police are aimed at documenting possible facts of non -targeted use of charitable funds, as well as the establishment of the place of residence of persons who may be involved in probable criminal activity. Cyber ​​Police Department experts analyze information on the movement of funds, in particular on cryptocurrency wallets, where the contributions could be deduced. At the same time, employees of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine check the movement of funds on bank accounts Nazarii Gusakov and other persons who could be involved in collecting donations, ”the statement reads.

Earlier this month, information about the probable abuse of Nazari Husakov, which he collected for medicine, has spread to the media – a man is sick with spinal muscle atrophy and publicly tells about his illness.

After the accusations of opaque spending money, he stated Lviv.Media that he “never divided his money” and donations he received for the purchase of drugs. At the same time, the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi reported that since June last year, Gusakov received the drug “Evrisidi” at the expense of the city. However, Nazarius noted that these medicines were still not enough.

Police reported the opening of criminal proceedings on June 22. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the results of the Minister of Internal Affairs that Gusakov left abroad on June 13.
