The State Bureau of Investigation completed the investigation and referred the case to the court regarding the supply of large-caliber machine guns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which turned out to be defective.
According to the investigation, in 2022, the former head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense together with two heads of the state enterprise organized the robbery.
Instead of certified weapons, the troops got cheap analogues that do not meet the technical requirements and quickly fail.
The total number of machine guns ordered was 400, while only half of this number was delivered to the front.
According to law enforcement officers, the losses to the state budget amount to more than 193 million hryvnias.
The Prosecutor General’s Office notified three officials of suspicion of misappropriation and embezzlement of state property, as well as obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Two heads of the state enterprise are also suspected of official forgery. Precautionary measures for those involved in the case are currently being decided.
