Thus, on the walls of the cathedral, the images of the famous Lutsk developer Viktor Chornukha, the owner of the agro-enterprise “Vilia” Evgeny Dudka, and even Igor Palitsa, the leader of the “For the Future” party, were noticed.

The icon painter of the stable, deacon Yuriy Hetmanchuk, said that the first images were made half a year ago, but some of them caused conflicting reviews, which is why they were replaced by others. He also noted that the paintings were carried out with the blessing of Metropolitan Mykhailo of Lutsk and Volyn. A total of 12 people were to be depicted.

This caused considerable indignation in social networks among the townspeople. The mayor of Lutsk, Ihor Polishchuk, also reacted to this, saying that there are “more appropriate ways to thank patrons for their contribution to the reconstruction of the temple than to depict them on murals.”

At the same time, he reacted to the images on the walls of the Igor Palitsa cathedral. According to Polishchuk, he learned about his portrait in the church personally from the mayor more than a month ago, after which Palytsia immediately asked him to remove it, because, in his opinion, it violates God’s commandments and contradicts his moral and ethical principles. The next day, according to Polishchuk, the mural was removed.
