President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini declared his intention to visit Kyiv in the near future.

He reported this during an interview with Slovak TVR, where he devoted a large part of the conversation to the topic of Ukraine.

Pellegrini stressed that he had already informed Vladimir Zelensky about the preparation of a visit during their meeting at a summit in Vilnius last week.

The head of Slovakia emphasized that he wanted his trip to Kiev not only protocol but also practical.

I asked the Ukrainian side so that the visit was not only a protocol nature. I would like it to have a practical filling and become a signal of positive cooperation for both sides

Pellegrini noted

He expects that meetings in Kiev will give impetus to real arrangements that will benefit both Ukraine and Slovakia.

Pellegrini also expressed confidence in the potential of Ukraine after the end of the war. According to him, the restoration of Ukraine can become a powerful economic impulse for Slovakia, as countries have a common border.

The President believes that the development of Ukraine after the war will help to equalize regional imbalances in Slovakia and will open up new opportunities for both states.

At the same time, the Slovak leader acknowledges that there are differences between countries in views on individual issues. However, he is convinced that politicians must look for common points of contact in order to provide a constructive dialogue.

Pellegrini has repeatedly emphasized the need for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, stating that Kiev would probably have to make certain territorial concessions to reach peace.

We will remind, the government of Slovakia has decided to allow the sale of brown bears, the population of which is protected in the European Union.

Also, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo instructed Foreign Minister Yurai Blanar to seek the postponement of the EU’s vote on a new package of sanctions against Russia.
