The defender died while performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region.
Andriy Shchepotiev joined the ranks of the Armed Forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion / collage UNIAN, photo UAF, UNIAN30-year-old football referee Andrii Shchepotiev died in the battle with the Russian occupiers. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).The defender was from Kharkiv and worked at children’s and youth football matches, as well as at meetings of amateur leagues. In addition, he was a student of the National School of Referees and worked as a coach of the local “Arsenal”.
At the beginning of the full-scale war, Shchepotiev joined the ranks of the Armed Forces. A military man gave his life for Ukraine during a combat mission in the Kharkiv region.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Football Association and the entire football community, we express our sincere condolences to Andrii’s relatives and friends. Glory to the Hero! Eternal memory…” – wrote in the UAF.
Death of Ukrainian athletes at the frontAs UNIAN wrote, Denys Sklyarenko, the coach of the football club “Troyeshchyna” was killed in the battle with the Russians. As it became known, with the beginning of the full-scale war, Sklyarenko voluntarily joined the Armed Forces, where he served in the 112th brigade. He was also awarded the “Golden Cross” for his military service.
In addition, at the beginning of October, it became known about the death of Ukrainian handball player Roman Zayets. The defender died on September 27, 2024 near Donetsk during a combat mission.
