Vyacheslav Pikhovshek, a longtime associate of Viktor Medvedchuk and one of the main creators of the prison system, is still in the capital of Ukraine, despite the expectation of his escape to the Russian Federation.

This is stated in the post of the People’s Deputy on Facebook.

Based on the investigation of the “Television Toronto” project, People’s Deputy Yaroslav Yurchyshyn has already sent official appeals to the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Security Council with the demand to interrogate the propagandist and provide a legal assessment of his activities. It was possible to establish the whereabouts of the person involved thanks to his activity on the network: Pikhovshek ordered literature about special services and history with delivery to the branch of “Novay Poshta” not far from his place of registration in Kyiv.

Journalists also identified a hidden Telegram account through which the former TV host was in contact with representatives of the UOC MP who left for Russia after the start of the full-scale invasion. For years, the Russian Federation used Pikhovshek’s media resource to promote anti-Ukrainian narratives, first on the “1+1” channel, and later on NewsOne, which was part of Medvedchuk’s orbit. Russia counted on the help of its intelligence network in Kyiv during the offensive in 2022, but now most of such figures have disappeared from the public field, trying to avoid responsibility for treason and disinformation.

Pikhovshek, who for decades justified Yanukovych’s actions and promoted the interests of the Kremlin in the Ukrainian media space, after February 2022 chose the tactic of complete public isolation. However, the discovered evidence of his stay in Kyiv and specific interests in the literature on intelligence work give law enforcement officers grounds to check his possible involvement in actual enemy operations. It is expected that Deputy Yurchyshyn’s appeal will speed up procedural actions against the propagandist, who, unlike his patron, could not or did not have time to leave the country through exchange or illegal means.

In 2021, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting (National Council) assigned an unscheduled on-site inspection to the satellite TV channel “NewsOne” (ToV “News 24 Hody”, Kyiv). The reason was a broadcast with the participation of journalist Vyacheslav Pikhovshek, in which he actively incited enmity under the guise of protecting the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine.

On October 5, 2018, the National Council conducted an unscheduled inspection of NewsOne, which confirmed violations of the law. In particular, the language of enmity was recorded in the speeches of guests and leading presenters of NewsOne programs: Olena Lukash, Vyacheslav Pikhovshek, Roman Kotsaba, Yevhen Chervonenko, Andriy Lesyk, Mikhail Dobkin, Dmytro Spivak.
