Artem Dmytruk, a wanted fugitive member of parliament, told on the channel of Odesa lawyer Taras Nikyforchuk how he managed to leave Ukraine and stated that he fled because they wanted to “liquidate” him.

Dmytrouk’s direct speech: “There was already a peak situation, when the persecution of me and my family gained maximum speed, they simply wanted to eliminate me, the instruction was given from the Office of the President, I had been monitored for a long time, for several months by the special services of Ukraine, and organized criminal groups, this they themselves confirmed it. It was all completely illegal… I saw it and knew it.”

Details: According to him, he made the decision to flee on August 20, when the parliament adopted the law banning the UOC-MP.

He said that at first he sent his family to Moldova. And on August 23, he himself left Kyiv for Odesa region, in which Dmytrouk was assisted by his friend’s driver.

The People’s Deputy said that he left Odesa Oblast for Moldova, where on August 24 he reached the first police station near the Palanka checkpoint. “I had to walk with my briefcase for a long, long time to reach this part of Moldova,” he said.

“I came there, completely fulfilled all my civic duties, filled out the necessary documents and questionnaires, after which I received a special document that gave me permission to leave the territory of Moldova. And I started moving on,” said Dmytruk.

The People’s Deputy did not say how exactly he crossed the Ukrainian border, and who helped him in this.

He stated that he left Ukraine “temporarily and forcibly”, and also said that his rights and powers should not have been limited during the period of war or state of emergency in accordance with the law “On the status of a people’s deputy”.

Prehistory:

  • On August 25, it became known that non-factional People’s Deputy Artem Dmytruk, who defended the Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, illegally left the country.
  • The State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Dmytruk illegally crossed the border in Odesa and entered Moldova. According to UP, the people’s deputy then went to Italy.
  • On August 25, the Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin informed about the suspicion of this current People’s Deputy of Ukraine for participating in attacks on citizens, including a law enforcement officer, attempted theft of firearms, etc.

  • On August 29, Artem Dmytruk, a suspect in the attacks on a military man and a law enforcement officer, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, was declared wanted.
  • On September 2, the law enforcement officers informed about the suspicion of three persons who illegally transported the suspect of attacks on citizens of people’s deputy Artem Dmytruk across the state border to Transnistria.
