At the same time, the EP interlocutors added that the Government’s bill should be voted in June, since there will be great breaks in the schedule of parliament in the summer of this year, which will complicate the timely amendments to the budget and put the cash supply to the military in the autumn.
In addition, the interlocutors of the EP in parliament, acquainted with the state of implementation of the budget of the Ministry of Defense, added that current changes to the budget will not be the last in 2025. It is likely that at the end of the year there will be a need to increase defense expenditures again, but the previous amount of these additional expenditures is currently unknown.
It should be noted that the need to increase the defense budget in 2025 is due to the fact that the Ministry of Defense conducts a systematic approach of expenditures. Thus, at the beginning of the year, the ministry used the expenditures that were written at the end of the year for the purchase of money.
In other words, if no changes to the state budget are approved, the state will not be able to pay for the servicemen in the fall.
The Ministry of Defense expenditures, within the framework of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which envisaged the intensification of the purchase of weapons and ammunition. The corresponding decision was made at the end of 2024, fearing potential problems with the receipt of defense assistance from the United States.
