Pentagon: the US will provide aid to Ukraine “as its own reserves are replenished”

The US Department of Defense is determined to ensure the delivery of military aid to Ukraine, previously approved by Congress, until the end of the current administration, but “will allocate packages as its own stocks are replenished,” Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said on November 15.

According to her, “The Pentagon is constantly working on replenishing reserves in order to maintain its own level of combat readiness.”

She noted that there are a little less than 70 days left until the new administration comes in, but “in that short period of time, the Pentagon can do an incredible job.” Singh recalled the position of President Biden, who clearly emphasized that he wants to deliver all the aid approved by Congress to Ukraine before the end of his term.

“We will work very hard to ensure this,” the representative of the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

In this connection, she reminded that the United States has allocated quite large aid packages from the very beginning, and recently – very often, almost on a weekly basis.

“So I expect that over the coming months of this administration, you’re going to continue to see these packages come out of our existing inventory,” Singh said.

In addition, according to her, weapons will arrive in Ukraine within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which provides for the production of new weapons for the Armed Forces at American enterprises.

So, according to Singh, “the weapons available at the Pentagon will be sent in a short period of time, while the development and delivery of equipment within the USAI initiative will take longer, sometimes years.”

“In order to ensure the effectiveness of aid, the US and Ukraine maintain constant contact, including at the level of the heads of the Ministries of Defense,” the Pentagon representative added.

In September, US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of a total of $7.9 billion in US aid to Ukraine within the framework of the Ukraine Security Promotion Initiative.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, as of October 15, the United States has allocated more than $59.1 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
