The settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war will take place within the framework of a broader geopolitical agreement between the United States and China.
A meeting between Trump and Xi may take place in the near future / photo REUTERSPeace in Ukraine depends on what the leaders of the United States and China agree on, as this war has become an important part of the global confrontation between Washington and Beijing. Vyacheslav Potapenko, deputy director of the Institute of Strategic Studies, expressed this opinion on the “Kyiv24” broadcast.
“I don’t see any possibility of ending the war without American-Chinese negotiations. I mean the Russian-Ukrainian war, which over the past three and a half years has become part of the global confrontation between the Global West and the Global South, represented by the United States and China,” the analyst said.
In his opinion, the war will not end until Trump and Xi Jinping agree on new “geopolitical balances”.
“And when they agree, one of the elements of these agreements will be the end of the war in Ukraine. Everything else will be just maneuvers,” Potapenko is convinced.
Prospects of ending the war in UkraineAs UNIAN wrote, Donald Trump finally realized that Putin is not ready to make any concessions to end the war in Ukraine. Secretary of State Marco Rubio convinced the US president of this, who spoke with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and stated that the meeting in Budapest is pointless.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte believes that Putin’s situation is getting worse: he is running out of money, soldiers and ideas. This statement appeared against the background of reports about the collapse of military production in Russia.
