In Georgia, the city hall of Mestia called on the residents of the villages of Chuberi and Haisha to immediately turn off the “Bitcoin machines”. Uncontrolled mining may leave part of the region without electricity this winter, reports UNN with reference to “News of Georgia”.

“In administrative units, electricity consumption has increased catastrophically, which is associated with uncontrolled mining of cryptocurrencies,” the statement reads.

Power systems are overloaded and can shut down at any moment.

If the situation is not resolved, the supply of electricity to the population will be impossible, the authorities warn.

“Please understand that your personal interests are sacrificed for the well-being of the rest of the population – your neighbors, your relatives, your friends,” the city hall urges.

The problem with electricity due to mining has been relevant in Mestia for many years. The appearance of a large number of mining farms in Mestia is connected with low electricity tariffs and special benefits for the inhabitants of the highland region.
