The State Bureau of Investigation uncovered an overpayment of almost 18 million hryvnias during the purchase of beds for military personnel in Odesa.
According to the DBR, two officials of the Odesa Housing and Operating Department have been purchasing property for the Armed Forces at inflated prices since 2023. As a result, the state budget suffered losses in the amount of about 18 million hryvnias.
The investigation established that the officials did not ensure the verification of the economic reasonableness of the cost of products during procurement.
The extras were informed of the suspicion of negligent attitude to military service, which caused grave consequences in the conditions of martial law (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
One of the suspects has already been remanded in custody with an alternative bail of 17 million hryvnias. The sanction of the article provides up to eight years of imprisonment.
