Latvian tennis player Alona Ostapenko (WTA 24) made it to the semi -finals of the soil tournament WTA 500 in Stuttgart (Germany), having played in three sets the second racket of the world, Iga Schwontek.

During a post -match interview, Alona shared her thoughts on a duel with a five -time champion of a large helmet.

“She also plays perfectly on the ground, but I won Rolan Harros, so I can say the same thing about myself,” said Latvian tennis player.

When Ostapenko was asked what she believes: Schwontek does not like to play against her or, conversely, she likes to play against Igs, Alona replied:

“I think, both.”

“I respect her very much, her team and everything she does for tennis. But every time I go against her to the court, I take it as a new battle. I am ready, and even if I am not in the best shape that day, I will still fight and put out in full. I think today I was helped by the fact that I fought for the last ball.

I felt that the balls were a little slower when they were already used and I’m just glad to fought to the end. In the second set, I did not particularly feel my game, but in the third I thought: “Okay, everything, we start the third set from scratch. I will fight to the end, and there we will see what will happen. ”

And I’m really proud of myself. ”

Now Ostapenko won the polka on all coatings – hard, grass and soil, and leads in a personal confrontation with a devastating score of 6: 0.
