“Jay will never get a serious nameβ, β write: sport.ua
Jay is often criticized for his choice of opposition. It seems that the level he claims does not match the level of his rivals. But on the other hand, which of the famous cruiserweight boxers is ready to go up against him?
Opetaia again meets with a different name. He cannot agree with anyone better
Jay Opetaia is among the two leaders of the cruiserweight division right now. The second can be called Hilberto Ramirez, who has two belts. Another title, according to the WBC version, belongs to Bud Jack, who will defend it in a fight against Noel Mikaelian.
This year Opetaya will enter the ring for the third time. Before that, he beat David Nyika and Claudio Squeo. And these are also by no means the most famous names, like Chinkara.
Of course, Jay gets criticized for this. However, it is not entirely clear whether it is justified. The thing is that, on the one hand, Opetaya really does not want to give all the money to the opponent, just to organize a fight. And the same Ramirez will definitely want a much higher fee for an opponent of this level. On the other hand, the opponents are also in no hurry to enter the ring.
All this time, Opetaia is discussing the fight against Jack, then the meeting against Ramirez. However, nothing works. They say they agree. They confirm their interest in the union. However, the conversation does not continue.
There is also the problem of cruiserweight. This is not a very popular weight category. And they always don’t pay very well there. And therefore, the fighters also try to bypass it: quickly earn what they can, gain authority and move up in weight. But as of now, the champions are walking around each other and will not dare to do exactly that – earn what they can and gain authority.
Therefore, Opetai has to fight with contenders. This time it is Chinkara. Before that was Squeo. If there are no other options, it is worth fulfilling the commitment and staying active.
Chinkara is not such a bad option. Squeo was much worse and was beaten too easily by Opetaia. Even Jay himself specifically did everything in order to quickly finish the meeting and say goodbye to the opponent. However, at the same time, do not injure him.
Huseyin is quite mobile for a 40-year-old boxer. Counts a lot on hand speed in attacks. Counterattacks opponents and hits quite hard – as his statistics show. Chinkara is a right-hander, who has a good feel for the ring, and is not afraid to go into exchanges, where he combines until the opponent is completely hurt.
The main question regarding him is at the level of the opposition. There are no people on the record that really deserve attention. Boxers as boxers. Nothing unusual. Against their background, Husayn looked great. He promises that he will have the same appearance against the background of the champion.
However, the problem is that Opetaia is already a further step. Jay fought Mairis Briedis twice and won both times. He has good Ellis Zorro, Jack Massey and the same Nyika in his record. Jordan Thompson – also a good, overall boxer with dimensions similar to Anthony Joshua – was knocked out in the 4th round.
It is difficult to find so many interesting names in Chinkara’s record.

Jake Opetaia by a huge margin. Bookmakers give about 1.02 for his victory. You can bet on the victory of Chinkara with a coefficient of 11.0.
And even with all the desire, it is difficult to imagine that Huseyin can oppose the opponent. If we outline the theoretical options, we have, for example, good hand speed. Good shot. Mobility. All of this works and can work against Opetai too. But will Hussain be able to use it throughout the match? Let it be yes at the start. And then?
And what will he do with the force of the opponent’s blow? Jay couldn’t break Mairis Briedis alone, but this is one of the best cruiserweight boxers in recent years. Everyone else was either knocked out or injured. And we haven’t seen Chinkara being tested on the jaw regularly from round to round.
Opetaia can fight – exactly where the opponent likes. He is not afraid of close range. He feels great there. Jay can attack from a distance, get power. Can cheat by going from the body to the head and ending fights in this way.
What is no less important, the Australian is not afraid of a power struggle. He is not a very big boxer, but physically strong enough to impose a fight on an opponent if he is motor. Like Chinkara, who can try to outrun an opponent.
That is, Opetai has much fewer weak points than Chinkara. Therefore, he will be required not just to win, but to win in a bright and confident style. Otherwise, it will not be taken seriously.
Otherwise, you should not count on money fights. Opponents will once again devalue Jay and leave the fight against him.
