The average pension in Ukraine has reached 6 341 hryvnia after the last indexation. However, this amount is not typical of all: one in three pensioners now receive only UAH 340, which is equivalent to about $ 80.
This is stated in the study of “Openatable”.
In total, there are more than 10.3 million pensioners in Ukraine in early April, and this number is gradually decreasing – in a year, pensioners have become less than 177 thousand.
More than 3 million people, that is, one in three, lives at 3,340 hryvnias. At the same time, due to indexation, the number of pensioners with payments less than UAH 3,000 has decreased significantly – now only 398 thousand, or 3.9% of the total.
At the same time, 1.5 million Ukrainians (14.5%) receive a pension over UAH 10,000, and the average amount of payments in this category is UAH 15,640 ($ 374).
About 3 million pensioners (29%) have pensions, slightly higher than the country’s average – 6 860 UAH ($ 164). 20% of pensioners, which are 2.1 million people, receive about UAH 4,500 ($ 107).
The regional difference in payments is noticeable: the highest pensions are traditionally in Kiev – 8 708 UAH, which is 37% more than the country’s average. The following are Donetsk region (7 814 UAH, +23%) and Luhansk (7 314 UAH, +15%). The lowest pensions in Ternopil region (4 931 UAH) and in Chernivtsi region (5 100 UAH).
Most pensioners live in the Dnipropetrovsk region – 873 thousand, in Kiev – 748 thousand, in Kharkiv – 707 thousand. The smallest pensioners in Chernivtsi region are only 206 thousand. It is worth noting that almost a third of Ukrainian pensioners continue to work – this is 2.9 million people (28%).
The average amount of their pension payments is 6 863 hryvnia.
We will remind, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has taken a step towards restriction of “giant” pensions for prosecutors.
We have already reported that on March 25, the Cabinet of Ministers at the meeting indexed pension payments. Pensions increased by 11.5% for more than 10 million Ukrainians.
