ChatGPT Atlas is available today for macOS users, but will require a ChatGPT subscription – Free, Plus, Pro or Go. There is also a beta version for Business and Enterprise subscribers. Versions for Windows, iOS and Android in OpenAI promise to be released later.
“AI gives us a unique opportunity to rethink how we use the web. Thanks to Atlas, ChatGPT accompanies you anywhere, understands what you’re doing and helps you complete tasks right on the page,” OpenAI notes.
One of the features of the browser is the integrated memory, which allows ChatGPT to save the context of visited pages and use it for further tasks. For example, a user can ask the AI to “summarize the jobs I viewed last week” or “continue researching gift items.”

OpenAI emphasizes that this feature is completely under the user’s control: all data can be viewed, archived or deleted, and clearing the browsing history also deletes the associated memories. However, the company uses the viewed content to train its models by default, but the user can turn this option off in the settings.

ChatGPT Atlas also has an agent mode that allows AI to perform actions directly in the browser — such as searching for products, planning events, analyzing documents, or even placing online orders. The feature is already available in the previous version for users of Plus, Pro and Business subscriptions. OpenAI warns that the agent can make mistakes in complex scenarios, but developers continue to work on it to improve its speed and reliability.

To avoid risks, Atlas has built-in security mechanisms: the agent cannot execute code, download files, or access other applications. On sites with financial information, it pauses the action until the user confirms their intentions.
The ChatGPT Atlas browser can now be downloaded from chatgpt.com/atlas by importing bookmarks, passwords and browsing history from your current browser.
