Earlier, users found that Google, Bing and other search engine can find public dialogues with Chatgpt if you look at https://chatgpt.com/share.
Often, everyday examples appeared in the results: bathroom repair, astrophysics or recipe search.
Sometimes people shared confidential situations – for example, they asked to rewrite a resume for a vacancy. And in some cases, they asked weird questions, like “Can you warm the fork in the microwave”.
By default, the chatbot did not talk public. The format /Share link appeared only after clicking on the “Share” button in the chat and confirming the action – “Create a link”. The name, instructions and all messages after the publication remained private.
Upon creating a link, the user could also choose whether it would be available for search engines.
“We tested ways to simplify the exchange of useful dialogues while maintaining control of the user. Recently, we have completed an experiment, within which correspondence could appear in search engines if the user deliberately agreed to it when published, ”the company spokesman said.
Recall that in July Sam Altman warned that personal conversations with Chatgpt have no legal protection. The court may require all the information that users shared with the bot.
