On Sunday, January 19, during a rally on the eve of the inauguration, US President-elect Donald Trump promised put an end” to the war in Ukraine and stabilize the situation in the Middle East.

He said this during a speech at the Capitol One Arena in Washington.

“I will put an end to the war in Ukraine. I will end the chaos in the Middle East and prevent World War III. And you have no idea how close we are to that,” Trump said.

Preparation for potential negotiations on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine

On December 4, 2024, the WSJ reported that the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, is negotiating with the new Trump administration to reduce differences over a peaceful settlement of the Russian war against Ukraine even before he takes office.
