Today, after the successfully conducted another stage of exchange of seriously wounded and seriously ill prisoners, the Russian side stated that Ukraine is not ready for “daily exchange”.
Details: The coordination explained that they consider such a statement as the continuation of information manipulations and another portion of misinformation by the Russian Federation, which is accompanied by all stages of exchanges according to the agreements in Istanbul.
The institution explains that in fact, it is the Russian side who suggested to move the exchange for later time, but at the insistence of the Ukrainian negotiation group the exchange will continue and they are planned for the coming days.
Budanov also added that the next stage of exchange is expected in the near future.
Prehistory:
- On June 2, Ukraine and the Russian Federation agreed to return “6000 to 6000” bodies of dead soldiers on June 2. Ukrainian and Russian delegations also agreed on the exchange of “all” for all “seriously wounded and young servicemen aged 18 to 25 years.
- On June 9, the 66th exchange of prisoners of war started. The first group of released servicemen under 25 years of age returned to Ukraine from Russia.
- On June 10, Ukraine returned from the Russian captivity a group of defenders who suffered serious injuries and have serious health problems.
- On June 11, according to the results of repatriation measures, the bodies of 1 212 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine. Within the framework of Istanbul arrangements, on June 12, Ukraine returned another group of defenders from Russian who had severe injuries and have serious illnesses.
- The coordination stressed that for safety reasons of the operation, the exact number of dismissed persons will be announced after the exchange process is completed.
