Ohmatdit National Children’s Specialized Hospital has officially launched a recovery after a devastating rocket stroke that Russia caused in July 2024.

The attack was significantly damaged by the main housing of the medical institution, as well as a number of other important facilities of the hospital infrastructure.
From the first day after the shelling, the team of doctors and engineers worked on emergency measures to preserve the opportunity to assist young patients and prevent further destruction.
Already in May 2025, Okhmatdit announced a tender for overhaul of the medical and diagnostic complex. The competition was attended by three construction companies, and the most favorable proposal-UAH 293 million-was provided by Riola-Modul LTD LLC.
This is 20% less than the expected cost of work, which was previously estimated at UAH 367 million. It is worth noting that the previous tender was canceled a year ago due to a contractor’s opaque scandal and an inflated price that reached UAH 307 million.
The new project provides a wider amount of work, but even with this, the price remained lower than last year.
Reconstruction financing is carried out at the expense of charitable contributions collected in the accounts of the Ohmatdit Fund – a healthy childhood. The total amount required for the complete reconstruction of the modern building is estimated at UAH 396 million.
During the recovery, the hospital does not stop work – more than 500 children are treated here daily. Thanks to the conducted anti -cavity work after the shelling, it was possible to increase the number of patients by 15% compared to the capacity immediately after the attack.
The reconstruction of Okhmatdit should end before the cold of 2025. In addition to the main building, complete renovation of the old surgical department is planned, as well as the construction of a new innovative building at the site of those unnecessary buildings.
All work is under the control of the recovery council, which includes activists, donors and representatives of the Ministry of Health.
Health Minister Viktor Lyashko stressed that the strategic goal is not just to return the hospital to the pre -war state, but to make it even more modern and progressive, according to the best world standards.
Recall that the Ministry of Health has received a request from the Ministry of Defense for doctors for the Armed Forces. The army will be removed from the required army.
We have already reported that after the missile shelling of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdit” in July 2024, the institution is actively undergoing restorative work. Since then, a number of hospital facilities have already been rebuilt.
